The electronic asparagus grader represents the heart of the asparagus processing lines that Sgorbati Group has developed thanks to close contact with its customers.
The continuous examination of the specific requests allows us to operate an incessant development, and a customization of the machines, for maximum use by the customer, and a significant reduction in operating costs.

Our electronic asparagus grader represents the state of the art in the field of asparagus grading, and is the result of over 20 years of experience.

In our sorting line, the asparagus is previously washed with plenty of water and light pressure to ensure reliable optical sorting.
Subsequently the asparagus is isolated, then subjected to the determination of the quality with an optical device when it is still in its tray and finally reaches the collection container for which it was intended; these are divided into various levels in relation to quality.

The grader can have up to 128 outputs, with the combination of the grading parameters.
The asparagus processing lines are completed with washing tunnels (up to 60 high pressure nozzles), pre-cutting and cutting systems to adapt to the specific needs of each customer.

Grading – what matters for efficiency!

Placed in its own tray, during the selection phase the asparagus is turned and photographed several times by a camera, until the surface image is 100%.
With auto white balance, the camera’s color detection is independent of the outside temperature.
The following parameters are taken into consideration:

    • Diameter (in the lower area or in the middle of the shank)
    • Length
    • Curvature, S shape, head
    • Stems without head
    • Irregular club shape / lack of parallelism
    • Head shape (flower)
    • Colors evaluated separately for the head, neck and remaining stem in white asparagus
    • Oval shape
    • Cracks, grooves

Colors are recorded separately for the head, neck and remaining stem.

Purple – Light purple – Green – Light green – Rust – Light rust / bad spots

Green and white asparagus classified according to different criteria.

To detect green asparagus more accurately, there is the possibility of an additional camera for the asparagus head to be used to measure the bloom.

Thanks to the different selection criteria, many selection programs can be created and stored according to your needs. It is possible to recall these settings at any time to change the selection criteria.

For later evaluation and detailed analysis, the selection results can be saved.
